Dr. Vindel Kerr

Dr. Kerr is an internationally-awarded Corporate Governance (CG) expert and widely sought-after in Strategic Planning. He coaches, trains and advises SMEs, SOEs, Listed and Privately-held Firms, DFIs, Credit Unions, Family Businesses and on IPOs CG requirements across multiple jurisdictions. His 25 years’ work history, 18 in the C-Suite, includes corporate leadership, consulting/advisory, executive education and academia. Trained in agronomy & agricultural economics, Dr. Kerr obtained his early grounding at FAO/UN, then held senior positions at Jamaica Producers Group (JPG) and Capital & Credit Merchant Bank. He founded GovStrat Limited in 2003- a management consulting & learning provider through which he pioneered the Certification of Caribbean Directors, served 200+ consulting clients, facilitated 350+ learning sessions, trained 9000+ Directors, C-Suite executives, senior civil servants and politicians spanning 24 countries. In 2012, he designed and has been co-facilitator of the Caribbean’s first and most prestigious Professionally Accreditation courses for Corporate Directors Company Secretaries and C-Suite employees. Dr. Kerr has conducted CG audits, board performance evaluations, developed codes, charters, frameworks, policies and protocols. He has served as Board and Committee Chairman for various organisations including Planning Institute of Jamaica, Heart Trust/NTA, Jamaica 4-H Clubs, et al and founding member of the Jamaica Stock Exchange Best Practice Competition Committee (2004-2018) and the PSOJ Corporate Governance Committee (2004-2008).
Dr. Kerr has served as a lecturer at The UWI, Mona and St. Augustine campuses, the University of Manchester (UK) and CASE, Jamaica. He authored the very successful book, Effective Corporate Governance (2005); a groundbreaking thesis, Exploring Corporate Governance Structures and Practices in Jamaica: Toward Policy Reform (2010); Corporate Governance Framework for Public Bodies Jamaica (2011) and many referred book chapters, papers, monographs and technical reports. He has presented his work in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas; a 2010 Scholar of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN); Fellow, Organisation of American States (OAS) (1995); a British Chevening Scholar (1995); First Carlton Alexander/JADF Scholar (1989) and a George Beckford Scholar (1986). He earned a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) (Corporate Governance & Public Policy) from the Alliance Manchester Business School (UK); MBA at Rutgers Business School (USA) and BSc (UWI, St. Augustine).
